Although Mite Bee Gone is the brainchild of one individual, making anything a reality in this complex world requires a tremendous amount of support.  Besides the professional groups that have been hired, whenever a need or challenge has arisen individuals or organizations have stepped up to help complete this important endeavor and we would like to thank them all.  If you understand and agree with the goals of this organization, we would enjoy discussing how you can help or be involved.

Below is a short list of some of the key people that have helped during this seven year long process.

Dr. Diana Sammataro PhD Entomology

Diana is a career researcher in honeybee entomology with a PhD from Penn State University where she worked for a number of years before joining the USDA.  While at Penn State she designed the ‘sticky board’ layout for monitoring Varroa mite drop counting.  Diana is a co-author of a well respected Beekeeping Handbook that has been reprinted multiple times.

She has consulted and provided encouragement in Mite Bee Gone’s effort to develop a novel biopesticide for Varroa mite control including help in creating test protocols for studying the products efficacy.

Dr. Russell Vreeland PhD

Dr. Vreeland is a microbiologist with an expertise in salt loving (Halophile) bacteria. After a long career as an university educator, he is currently operating a fascinating and important company (Eastern Shore Microbes LLC) that uses these special bacteria to naturally remediate waste water ponds!

Russell is also an avid beekeeper and has partnered on research projects with the USDA on the microbiome of honeybee pollen.  He has provided insight and support in the development of this new biopesticide for Varroa control including beta site testing in his apiaries.

Mite Bee Gone approached CH Biotech R&D Co. after initial developmental success as a potential partner and they immediately recognized the exciting possibility of a natural and sustainable biopesticide for the honeybee industry and became instrumental in achieving regulatory approval and commercial viability.

CHEM-CHEK Laboratories, Inc.

Dr. Jerry Demenna is an analytical chemist with extensive background in precious metal assaying  and provides consulting work for the development of analytical procedures for governmental agencies like the FDA and the EPA.

He has provided test procedures and other critical support in the process of obtaining EPA licensing for the finished biopesticide product and helped in establishing the Anovotek connection. He also enjoys the honey from our Apiaries!

Anovotek is a global leader in the development and commercialization of innovative products and the application of unique chemistries onto fabrics.

Anovotek has recognized the importance and potential for this new biopesticide and has agreed to partner with Mite Bee Gone to design and commercialize a consistent and economical product to help the beekeeping industry control the Varroa mite problem on honeybees.
